Construction update for UK's newest village
November 15, 2010
Following financial close on 2 July, CLV has begun construction on the 853-bed student village at the University of Bedfordshire (Bedfordshire, United Kingdom).
The £40 million development, Fitzroy Court, will be delivered in two phases, with the first 579 beds on track for completion by August 2011 and a further 274 rooms to be delivered in 2012.
The finished building will comprise a five-floor rotunda and three L-shaped blocks from eight to 11 stories high.
It is expected that the show apartment, due for completion by March 2011, may be delivered ahead of schedule.
Commenting on the development, Chief Executive Officer of CLV UK, Gary Clarke says, “It is very encouraging to see that the construction is progressing so well and that all major exterior work has been completed before the worst of the UK winter weather could cause delays.”
“We are already reaching the stage of being able to visualise how the finished apartments will look. The design and fit out details are also well developed and the finished product will be very exciting,” he says.
Residents will enjoy a range of en-suite bedrooms, a fully equipped gym, a TV room, games room, study rooms, laundry, wi-fi accessibility in common areas, free internet and a 24-hour reception and security service.
