Student Village Melbourne and Yarra House have hosted their biggest night of the year – the annual inter-Village ball. The ‘Starry Night’ event was held on May 4 at San Remo ballroom and is one of the largest formal events on the ResLife calendar each Semester.
“With our two Villages we are able to get desired numbers together, so there is a bigger crowd and more excitement,” says SVM Residential Life Duty Manager, Tracy Johnston. Yarra House Village Manager Cory Edwards also sung its praises:
“Residents loved having the ball and enjoyed making new friends from other Villages. Our RA’s have already formed a bond with the SVM RA’s and this comradery spreads to the Village community.”
So why do formal events like the ‘Starry Night’ ball draw such interest? Simply put: residents love a reason to get dressed up. Fun awards like ‘best bromance’, ‘soul sisters’ and ‘most likely to live at the Village forever’ were given out while ‘best dressed’ were nominated on the night.
SVM resident Samuel Xu has produced a video to promote the successful evening, which you can view below.
