What will you be doing?
This opportunity will give you exposure to enhance your buildings and maintenance experience in this key role by providing high quality facilities services to our students.
Your day to day work will focus on responding to our students’ ‘fix it requests’ whilst also contributing to the general upkeep of our varied buildings.
Do you have the skills?
You will have all round experience in plumbing, decorating and general maintenance works, and perhaps a qualification in a specific trade.
Working with a small team on site, you will be highly self-motivated, a team player who is keen to get their hands on tools and takes satisfaction from a job well done.
You will have the ability to organise your own busy workload, sometimes under pressure to meet customer deadlines, and deliver excellent customer service in a diplomatic, friendly and professional manner. Ensuring accuracy and attention to detail to all jobs in hand.
Recent and relevant experience in facilities maintenance in an accommodation/housing environment is a bonus, preferably gained in the higher education sector.
Our students will get to know you as the smiley person who attends to their building challenges, whilst the rest of the team can rely on you to get on with a task in hand.
You will therefore be able to demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills and a willingness to work hard in order to provide high-quality operational and physical support for the facilities infrastructure at McMillan Student Village.
You will be educated to at least GCSE standard (or with demonstrable and significant equivalent experience relevant to the role).
Please be aware this role will include a physical element which will entail, for example, the moving of furniture and materials around and between buildings. Whilst we predominantly work during office hours, some weekend working and out of hours availability will be required from time to time during busy works periods.
