Who are we looking for?

We are currently looking for an Assistant Accountant to join our Finance team at Campus Living Villages: Village Central Manchester to provide support to operational teams with the daily processing of finance and accounting entries. You will be banking on behalf of the Villages in accordance with our procedures as well as assisting the Financial Accounting and Reporting Manager with ad-hoc duties.

What will you be doing?

  • Responsible for residents’ invoicing process, including but not limited to:
    • Raising charges
    • Managing payments
    • Direct debits
  • Complete bank reconciliations.
  • Provide support to the operational teams, including but not limited to:
    • Query resolution
    • Residents’ accounts adjustments
    • Outstanding debt information
    • Deposits’ protection and refunds
  • Produce timely month end reporting, including but not limited to:
    • Balance Sheet reconciliations
    • Accruals and prepayments
    • Maintaining the Fixed Assets register
  • Document processes and keep up to date process notes on relevant activities.
  • Support the Financial Accounting and Reporting Manager in the statutory reporting process.
  • Collate information for year-end and the audit.

What you need to have:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to achieve an outstanding level of customer service (Essential)
  • Attention to detail (Essential)
  • Ability to deal with and prioritise multiple tasks to meet deadlines (Essential)
  • Problem solving skills (Essential)
  • Adapting to change (Essential)
  • Computer literacy – Intermediate Excel as a minimum (Essential)
  • Good understanding of financial accounting and cash management (Desirable)

 Qualifications required:

  • Degree (preferably Finance or related subject) or Part-Qualified Accountant
  • The job holder will be expected to study towards an accounting qualification
