Building Maintenance/Tradesperson – Te Puni & Everton (Wellington)

Campus Living Villages (CLV) offers student accommodation to Tertiary students around New Zealand and the Globe.  Our vision is to create an environment that supports our students to Live, Learn and Grow.  Our team is integral to supporting students as they strive for academic success.

This is a great opportunity to apply your breadth of trades skills to make a difference in a vibrant community environment, outside of the construction industry. A Trades qualification is not necessary but breadth of experience is.

Reporting to the Village Manager, you will assist with the presentation of our student accommodation, providing general building repair work and maintenance across our sites in Wellington. As a varied trades role, with a high volume of small jobs, resolving a large range of issues quickly is key, which sometimes requires thinking outside the box to solve an issue cost effectively.

Responsibilities include:

  • Prioritising and attending to maintenance and repair requests in a timely manner
  • Providing good customer service to our residents
  • Supervision of sub-contractor work on site and providing contractor H&S site inductions
  • Assisting in performing maintenance audits
  • Reporting on maintenance requests and completion of work, using the maintenance management system
  • Adhering to the Safety Management Plan and H&S procedures

Working hours are 7.30-4.30pm, Monday to Friday, with occasional after hours and weekend work.

We are looking for someone who has:

  • 5+ yrs Trades experience, including Carpentry, with an understanding of multiple building trades
  • Experience in supervising sub-contractors
  • Some lock & key experience would be beneficial
  • Good problem solving skills and ability to think on your feet
  • Strong organisation skills, with the ability to meet tight deadlines
  • Good communication skills and able to work with a diverse range of people
  • Ability to handle difficult customers, including young people
  • Strong work ethic and able to work autonomously, as well as part of a team
  • A Safety mindset; safety certificates are desirable

The role often requires moving regularly throughout the Villages and so a reasonable level of fitness is necessary.

This role offers:

  • Competitive remuneration
  • Working with a Global Leader
  • Varied work, working with great people, where no two days are the same

If this role sounds like you and you think you have the skills, experience and attitude that we are looking for, please submit your CV via the ‘apply now’ button.

Applicants must have the right to work in NZ and pass a satisfactory Police check.
