Community Development Manager, Canterbury

Campus Living Villages (CLV) offers student accommodation to Tertiary students around New Zealand and the Globe.  We operate on a vision of supporting our students to Live, Learn and Grow.  Our team is integral to supporting students as they strive for academic success.

We are looking for our next team member to join our team at the University of Canterbury Accommodation.  This position, in partnership with the University, is responsible for operational performance and ensuring business objectives are met, staff are engaged and students are satisfied.

We need a highly self-motivated and empathetic leader who is results focused, able to develop the culture of the community to encourage our residents to achieve their potential and academic success.

Duties and responsibilities are likely to include:

  • Lead and develop a high performing and passionate team
  • Maintain the overall communities safety and resident wellbeing
  • Oversee and lead the community while demonstrating CLV’s core values
  • Developing and maintaining positive relationships with key stakeholders and key partners to the business
  • Develop a vibrant healthy learning community
  • Generate professional management reports
  • Work closely with the GM and assist with administrative duties which may include finance, HR and operational requirements

This role will require someone who is dynamic, engaging and able to work in a fast paced and evolving environment.  The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and experience:

  • Experience working in an educational, hotel management or accommodation setting
  • Strong people management skills able to get ‘buy in’ from your team while leading from the front
  • Financial and business acumen
  • Excellent communication skills – both verbally and written
  • Embrace change with a ‘can-do’ attitude while being solutions focused to support the student community
  • Experience working with young adults is preferable
  • It is critical that you are able to motivate your team whilst being approachable, fun and hard working
