General Manager

Campus Living Villages, international provider of students’ accommodation in the UK, New Zealand, Australia and the US, is recruiting for a General Manager for our new site in Durham (opening September 2020.)

The purpose of the role is overall management and delivery of all operational services for the accommodation. Your key accountabilities will include:

  • Ensuring compliance with all agreements, leases and contracts pertaining to the site
  • Overall leadership and direction of the site in line with the University Service Level Agreement
  • Delivery of budget and other financial targets
  • Day to day management of the operational team
  • Relationship management of key University partners
  • Preparation and distribution of reports to external and internal stakeholders

Operations responsibilities

  • Oversee the management of the “StarRez” database and the reporting requirements
  • Oversee the development, review and management of policies and procedures for the accommodation
  • Support the University teams during events and other initiatives
  • Overall responsibility for standards, services and security of the accommodation ensuring the appropriate tasks are performed by a team members

Asset and Risk Management

  • Primary responsibility for Sinking Fund and Asset Management Programme
  • Establish and maintain a Risk and Incident Register
  • Implement a CPAR (Corrective/Preventative/Action/Request) System within the Colleges for all facility and safety-related matters
  • Ensure that the asset is maintained to the highest possible standards (good or excellent)

A successful candidate will need to:

  • Have management experience within hospitality, student accommodation or estate management sectors
  • Have extensive experience in relationship management, facilities management, business planning, budgeting, finance management, delivering a comprehensive service level agreement, asset and risk management
  • Have experience in managing accommodation operations including people management and resource planning
  • Have student accommodation experience
  • Be able to build successful relationships with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring excellent customer service at all times

Role summary

Full time, 40 hours a week

This role requires flexibility with working hours as you may work any 5 out of 7 days which may fall on weekends or bank holidays, typically between 8.00am to 8.00pm but you will need to be available outside these hours if required.
