Campus Living Villages (CLV) has secured a deal for a major accommodation development at Durham University. In partnership with leading UK infrastructure manager and developer Equitix, CLV has confirmed the agreement for the Mount Oswald project, which will see the construction of two new college facilities boasting almost 1,000 extra rooms.

The project forms part of the university’s strategy to deliver world-class research, education and wider student experience. More than 700 of the new rooms will feature en-suite bedrooms, arranged in a mix of cluster flats of between eight and 12 students. The remaining rooms will have shared bathroom facilities arranged in townhouses and studios.
Work is to get under way imminently, and is scheduled for completion in 2020. CLV will oversee the day-to-day management of the facilities once delivered. Construction services are to be overseen by Interserve Construction, while Equitix will monitor the construction and operation of the new residences.

Lisa Brown, Joint Head of Operations at Campus Living Villages said: “We are thrilled to become a key operator at Durham University, a prestigious and world-renowned institution, further cementing Campus Living Villages as a University partnership business. We have the experience to deliver the best in student accommodation and look forward to continuing to put this into practice.”

Professor Stuart Corbridge, Vice-Chancellor at Durham University, said: “Our ambitious University Strategy, 2017-2027 aims to ensure we continue to deliver world-class research, education and wider student experience. The development of two college facilities at Mount Oswald, including a brand new College and a purpose-built new home for our John Snow College, is a key project in delivering a wider student experience as good as anywhere in the world.

“We are pleased to have reached financial close and look forward to work beginning on site shortly.”
