Griffith University Village (GUV) kicked off its O-Week with a bang, offering a jam-packed and completely free program for the first time since it opened in 2007. As the first village to run CLV’s new First Year Uni program, it was essential that GUV took their already great residential life events to the next level.
In true Gold Coast style, activities included a two beach excursions, with the opportunity witness the Quiksilver Pro surfing competition and get autographs from two of Australia’s world surfing champions, Mick Fanning and Joel Parkinson. Events also included cooking classes from a five-star chef, workshops on how to choose your first car, life skill coaching and job search seminars.
“The feedback the RA team and staff have received is overwhelming,” Ky said. “Social media has spoken for itself with post upon post of how amazing both the week was and the village community is.”
And to prove it, here’s just one of many comments from one of GUV’s excited residents!
“O-Week was one of the best weeks of my life,” said resident Sam Hall. “I have met so many amazing people and the GUV team certainly lived up to reputation, I’m so psyched for this semester!!”
Sam’s Facebook wall was one of hundreds that displayed his O-Week adventure to the world via social media.
