North Melbourne student residence, RMIT Village, will soon begin a major refurbishment project that will revamp rooms and facilities for students arriving in Semester 1, 2015.
The Village, which caters predominantly to students at RMIT University, will receive refreshed apartments with new bathrooms, carpets and paint. High-speed wi-fi will be installed throughout the building, as well as new equipment in the on-site gym.
“We’re working closely with RMIT University to continually enhance the student experience, both in and outside of the apartments,” says Village General Manager, Michael Lynch.
“This refurbishment project, along with our calendar of exciting residential life events, are both dedicated to creating a vibrant community where residents can live, learn and grow,” commented Lynch. “High speed wireless internet has been at the top of our residents’ wishlists. We’ve listened to their feedback and are working on a solution that will provide faster internet that can be accessed without interruption from around the Village.”
RMIT Village is located 5 minutes by car from RMIT University, and a short walk from the University of Melbourne. The Village features a heated swimming pool, café, large study, student lounge, gym, BBQ deck, games room and communal kitchen, in addition to cooking facilities in each apartment.
In order to minimise disturbance to residents, the refurbishment will take place during the university summer vacation from Thursday 1 January. Doors will open to residents on Monday 16 February 2015.
