The University of Sydney (the University) will be opening 995 new university-owned and funded student beds in July 2015, to cater to a growing demand for high quality, affordable student accommodation. Global student accommodation specialists, Campus Living Villages (CLV), will be managing the two sites in partnership with the University.
“The decision to outsource the management of the University’s two new student accommodation facilities was an important one for the University,” says Greg Robinson, Director of Campus Infrastructure Services.
“Following a rigorous competitive tender process, the University selected CLV due to its global reputation, partnership approach, and its focus on the student experience,” he added.
CLV will manage the Queen Mary Building and Abercrombie Student Accommodation developments, both located in Camperdown. The two developments will add much needed affordable on-campus accommodation for domestic and international students. The deal expands upon CLV’s existing relationship with the University at Sydney University Village, a 650 bed on-campus student accommodation facility located in Newtown.
“CLV is very pleased to build upon our longest standing, 12-year partnership with the University of Sydney. We look forward to creating a vibrant, supportive environment for University of Sydney students to live, learn and grow,” commented CLV Australia’s Chief Executive Officer, Michael Heffernan.
The Queen Mary Building Student Accommodation, which will open to students in late July 2015, will house 795 residents in a mix of studio rooms and dormitory style bedrooms. Residents will enjoy an abundance of communal spaces including sky lounges, a sky garden, sound-proof music rooms, communal kitchens, a theatre and gym. The Abercrombie Student Accommodation facility, located adjacent to the new University of Sydney Business School, will house 200 students in studio apartment style accommodation when it opens later this year.
CLV’s expertise in delivering outstanding student experiences was recently recognised by the Australasian Association of College and University Housing Officers (AACUHO) with the organisation winning the prestigious Operator of the Year Award.
CLV owns and/or manages more than 5,000 student beds in the Sydney Metropolitan Area within a global portfolio of more than 44,000 beds.
